Long Time

I checked to see how long since I have posted anything on this site. Facebook seems to have taken over. I think it is time to start sharing some book reviews on here and some thoughts from school. Check in with me soon.

Let's Make Some Noise

As I was outside watering the grass last night, I had a conversation with a neighbor that like I never thought I would have. While we visited the man told me of not being "relegious" and not "being active in a church." He was so open and transparent with me about his life and continuously asked me not to "be offended" because he didnt go to church, or because he shared a thought that he thought I may dislike. After an hour I began to share Christ with this guy who had been raised by his mother in the church. Everything I spoke of about the Word of God and our relationship with Christ, this man agreed with. As we continued on I seen hurt in his eyes. Come to find out his wife and her family are Jehovas Witness and because he doesnt agree with "there ways" he to has agreed not to speak of "his beliefs" around them so to keep the peace around the house. I felt very sad for this man as he teared up. At 36 this man has chosen to keep peace in the house instead of having peace in his heart.
We have to realize that we will never experience peace in our house until we have peace amongst ourselves. God desires us to welcome His presence within our households,not going without speaking His name. We are His children, whom He chose to glorify him. We cannot chose when we want to share Christ, we have to do it consistantly. I pray that you will join me in praying for this man as well as ourselves about not "hiding" from opportunity to share God's Word.Pray for his wife, for her eyes to be opened to the One True Gospel. Now is the time to share! We can read all the self help books on how to share the Good News all day long, or we can just go out and do it. Now is the time!!!!

A Thought for Today

How often do we miss out on opportunities to witness to people? We pray all the time for God to send us someone to share His word with, yet when we are approached we never catch on. An hour later we realize what happened.Why do we do this? I want people's opinion. Please share with me. There are no excuses, but people are so quick to judge those who do not walk with Christ. What makes us any different when we don't do what we are called to do, that is sharing Christ?

We can never gain more time in a day, we can only take advantage of the time we have now.

First Two Semesters Over Already!!!

As I reflected on my drive home tonight from Dallas, I realized that in two weeks I will have wrapped up my first year at Criswell. It has blown by so fast, that I feel like it was just yesterday that I walked in for the first time ever!

I give God praise for the friendships he has built and began to build throughout the school. I look at the people He has introduced me to, and am just amazed. It is truly a family around that school. Everyone is there and going through some sort of situation that I have faced in one way or another.

I am so glad to be able to learn the things I am being taught within that school. I know that God has placed me there and provided for my family and I because of the humble teachings I am encountering. I know that as I continue in my academic career there, that my walk with God will only blossom more and more.

Even though this short year has already passed, and in the next two weeks I will be doing so many papers that it will seem impossible to finish, I know that I will dearly miss this until the fall rolls back around. I am so grateful to be a part of this! Thank you Lord for showing me the true meaning of life. Thank you for the new family you have made me and my family a part of. Please press me on to the next stage of my academic career just as excited as this year has been for me. Glory to His Name forever and ever.

True Love

As the most famous day of the year approaches for romantics, some men look like this following picture of one of my childhood favorites Goofy. We tend to rack our brains trying to figure out what we should do, or if your really bad, you forget until one of your buddies reminds you of it! I laugh at how society gets so caught up in a day like this, that they allow their minds to go ninety miles an hour just to "figure out" what to do for this day.

While making my weekly Dallas trip this week, I listened to a particular radio station that I listen to back in town, and they were offering ideas themselves. That is when this thought came to my mind that may be like a knife in the gut. "Why do we as men wait until the last minute or for one day a year to express to our wives that we love them"? "Why is it that we are okay with telling our spouses one day out of the year the wonderful love we have and how grateful we are for one another", and then wait another 364 days to treat our wife to another evening like we do on this Valentine's day. I had a preacher tell me one time about date night with the wife. It doesn't mean going out all the time. It can be hanging out on the couch. Why not treat her to an evening of just rest and fellowship, or how about making it a point to emphasize to her daily that appreciation and love that you end up writing to her in one of the approximately one billion cards that are sent out or given each year! She is a daughter of God given to you by our Father in Heaven, and she is to be treated that way 365 days a year as long as you live! I laugh at the way people run around to buy the roses, candy, cards, etc, just so they can go home and give it out only to ruin the next day with the attitude of "well we spent time together yesterday".

Step up and make sure your lady knows she is loved year round. Allow her to look forward to everyday and not just this one particular day made up for love. I'm not bashing this day by no means, I am only saying that instead of beating yourself to death in deep thought about what to get her or what to do or say, make sure she already knows. This day should be the icing on the cake, that's it. God intended for us to love and express love in our daily lives, not one day a year. Peace.
